[mə'kaɪ], Percy Wallace, amerikanischer Dramatiker, * New York 16. 3. 1875, ✝ Cornish (North H.) 31. 8. 1956; studierte an der Harvard University und in Leipzig, 1906-13 Dozent für Theaterwissenschaft an verschiedenen Universitäten. MacKaye widmete sich nach Anfängen mit Gedichten und lyrischen Dramen v. a. dem Freilichtspiel. Das bekannteste seiner auf literarischen, historischen und folkloristischen Quellen zurückgreifenden Dramen ist »The scarecrow« (1908).
